I am always hesitant to write things like what I am about to write today. I am not schooled in eschatology, nor do I pretend to be. I am simply a woman who prays and writes down my thoughts. What I am about to share, if the church came out and says it is wrong then the church is correct and I am wrong. Everything I write is for your own discernment and prayer and I submit fully to the authority of the church. What I am about to share came from a conversation where I was lamenting to God. This is not a conversation about masks. I do not seek your medical advice, I am simply sharing my thoughts and feelings. I will not allow comments through that seek to push an opinion about masks on other people who are capable of their own discernment.
I hate the masks. I wear them because of my close proximity to my elderly parents. But I hate them. I feel as though they remove real relationship and we treat one another as lepers. I do not judge what others decide, it is between them and God and I am not here to control people.
I was speaking to the Lord about the masks and he simply said to me, “if I could show you all the harm your past words have caused and who they caused them to, you would want to wear the mask. Though you are forgiven, you could never repair the harm that was done, that is why you need me.” And I had a flash in my head of all the words I screamed at people in anger – and from long long ago. One instance in particular from when I was 10 years old and spoke hurtful words to a classmate. Though I had confessed the sin and know wholeheartedly that I am forgiven, the words were already out there waiting for a demon to attach to them and carry them out. When the Lord showed me this the other day I knew I could spend all my days trying to repair – and it would never be enough. It was like a ripple from my mouth into the lives of others that brought judgment, despair and loneliness to them. If I didn’t know of His mercy and healing power I would have caved at the weight of it all. His mercy and healing power are my only recourse. So I handed it to Him. I trust in Him to heal it.
I decided then and there to look at these masks as reparation. I cannot tell you how much my words have hurt others. It made me never ever want to complain again and I am asking the Lord to hold my tongue and bring praise and joy to the world. It is still hard though, concupiscence is deeply ingrained.
I tell you, on the day of judgment people will render an account for every careless word they speak. Matthew 12:36
And this moment brought me to the realization that there will be a great illumination of conscience. And I saw just how hard it would be for even the most faithful. When we see ourselves how we are and the ripple effect of what we have done, it will be astonishingly hard. It will be hard to accept His mercy because we will realize just how much we don’t deserve it. It may seem impossible that anyone would reject His mercy, but after this experience I know some souls will reject it as a lie because they will not be able to accept how sinful their own actions were. And either through shame and despair, or pride and envy, they will reject him.
I believe the message of Divine Mercy that was brought to us through Saint Faustina will culminate with this Illumination of Conscience. God prepared us through Saint Faustina because when we see the reality of who we are we will be profoundly ashamed. But the Lord doesn’t want that. He wants us profoundly healed. And when this illumination happens I believe in the interior of each soul he will show the image of Mercy that Saint Faustina had painted so that we will recognize His mercy and accept it. He sent a prophet to pave the way. A voice crying out in the wilderness.
Jesus I trust in you.
This illumination is not a judgment, but a gift of mercy, though it may feel like a judgment, hence why some will reject Him. This rejection is actually a blasphemy of the Holy Spirit – the unforgivable sin.
It is here that we will be marked.
He who refuses to pass through the door of My mercy must pass through the door of My justice. Dairy of Saint Faustina 1146
It is important to understand that this marking is not a thing, it is a decision; a free will’s choice. We will have the opportunity to accept or to reject mercy. Could things be used in forming our decision, yes, but a thing cannot force us to choose something against our will. If someone were to force something upon you that was evil (whether it be a tracker or vaccine or whatever you hear these days), if it is forced, your will was not involved in that. It is a decision of our own will that marks us. We get to chose how we are marked.
We will either be marked as servants of God, or marked with the beast.
After this mark the battle will rage fiercely. But because of our experience with Divine Mercy, we will know for sure the loving mercy of our God, so we can enter the battle prepared, for He does not leave His children orphaned. We will all suffer, but we will know the loving goodness of our God which will help us persevere.
I see this marking with the acceptance of Divine Mercy as the beginnings of God’s will on earth as it is in heaven. He is purifying us. This will usher in the era of the Divine Will, and I see beauty, peace and glory, much like the Apostles experienced at Pentecost.
Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Acts 2:43
When we walk in the Divine Will, true peace on earth happens. I do not think this is the end of the world but the beginning of a better one. I see joy and hope in the future. A people who rely on their God instead of themselves.
I have no idea about timelines or how it happens or what exactly happens, and though I think we should watch and pay attention and be watchers, the most important thing is our cooperative effort to allow God to purify us so that when the time comes we accept His mercy and His will and His glory fill us.
He wants us resting in the bosom of the Father. Resting in the Sacred Heart, like Mary and Joseph are. Sacred. Immaculate. Guardian. Beloved (you).

Man kann in diesen Tagen nicht mehr lau sein. Man darf in diesen Tagen nicht mehr lau sein. „Weil du lau bist, weder heiß noch kalt, will ich dich aus meinem Mund ausspeien“( Offb. 3, 16).
Jetzt müssen wir uns entscheiden, wo wir stehen wollen: Stehen wir zu Christus und seiner Kirche oder stehen wird zur gefallenen Welt mit ihren Sünden, Lügen und Versuchungen? Wo stehen wir? „Wer nicht mit mir ist, der ist gegen mich“ (Mt. 12, 30).
Wenn unsere Bischöfe, Priester und Kirchenfunktionäre offen gegen Gott rebellieren und entgegen der katholischen Lehre und dem Papst handeln, und somit eine Spaltung der Kirche provozieren, dann liegt es an uns uns klare Kante zu zeigen!
So sagte schon Papst Paul VI. folgende ernste Worte: „Wir haben das Gefühl, dass durch irgendeinen Spalt der Rauch des Satans in den Tempel Gottes eingedrungen ist.”
Davor dürfen wir uns nicht fürchten, denn Jesus Christus unser Herr und Gott versicherte dem hl. Petrus “Du bist Petrus und auf diesen Felsen werde ich meine Kirche bauen und die Pforten der Unterwelt werden sie nicht überwältigen.”
(Matthäus 16,18)
Damit verspricht der Herr Jesus Christus einerseits dass die Kirche gegen die Weltherrscher dieser Finsternis siegen wird, und warnt uns andererseits, dass die dunklen Mächte die Kirche bekämpfen werden. Der Sieg ist aber unser, der Kopf der Schlange ist zertreten!
Unsere Aufgabe ist es aber nicht, diese irregeleiteten Menschen einfach zu verurteilen, sondern, vielmehr müssen wir für sie beten und sie ermahnen (1. These. 5,11).
So lasst uns der Finsternis den Rücken kehren und dem Herrn Jesus Christus nachfolgen, der sagt: “Ich bin das Licht der Welt. Wer mir nachfolgt, wird nicht in der Finsternis umhergehen, sondern wird das Licht des Lebens haben.” (Johannes 8,12)
En bunt lin är en samling av laglösa, deras slut är eldgivande.

När våra biskopar, präster och kyrktjänstemän öppet gör uppror mot Gud och agerar i strid med katolsk doktrin och påven, alltså provocerar fram en division av kyrkan, då är det upp till oss att visa tydliga kanter!
Pope Paul VI har redan sagt det. Följande allvarliga ord: ′′ Vi känner att röken av Satan genom någon spricka har invaderat Guds tempel.”
Vi får inte vara rädda för detta, för Jesus Kristus, vår Herre och Gud försäkrade St. Peter ′′ Du är Peter och på dessa stenar kommer jag att bygga min kyrka och underjordens portar kommer inte att övervinna dem.”
(Matteus 16,18)
Herren Jesus Kristus lovar alltså å ena sidan att kyrkan kommer att vinna mot detta mörkers världshärskare, och å andra sidan varnar oss för att de mörka krafterna kommer att bekämpa kyrkan. Segern är vår dock, ormens huvud har trampat!
Men vårt jobb är inte att bara fördöma dessa vilseledda människor, utan snarare måste vi be för dem och förmana dem (1. Tesis. 5,11).
Låt oss vända ryggen till mörkret och följa Herren Jesus Kristus, som säger: ′′ Jag är världens ljus Den som följer mig kommer inte att vandra runt i mörkret, utan ha livets ljus.” (Johannes 8,12 ))

Talijanski narod je tijekom ljeta 1918. godine bio u strahu od španjolske gripe, bolesti koja je zatvorila škole i zaustavila rad lokalnih poduzeća. Bilo je to, baš kao i sada, vrijeme straha i neizvjesnosti zbog zaraze koja se širila diljem zemlje, donosi Aleteia.
Uplašeni građani potražili su pomoć kod Padra Pija. U biografiji „Padre Pio: Istinita priča“, u izdanju Our Sunday Visitora, zapisan je odgovor talijanskog sveca na svjetsku pandemiju te savjet koji je dao svojim duhovnim kćerima kada su mu pritekle u pomoć.
„Nemojte se nikada bojati. Stavite se pod zaštitu Djevice Marije, nemojte griješiti i bolest vas neće pobijediti“, poručio je svetac. Zanimljivo jest da su se neke od njegovih duhovnih kćeri razboljele, ali nijedna nije umrla.
Sveti Padre Pio je 17. rujna sebe također ponudio kao žrtvu za kraj pandemije. Nedugo nakon toga primio je stigme, vidljive znakove Kristove muke na svojem tijelu.

Biskup njemačkog Essena Franz-Josef Overbeck kazao je kako neće kažnjavati svećenike iz svoje biskupije koji budu blagoslivljali istospolne parove.
“Neću to učini”, odgovorio je u razgovoru za WDR na izravno pitanje o kažnjavanju svećenika koji neće poštivati dokument Kongregacije za nauk vjere u kojem je potvrđeno kako “Crkva nema, i ne može imati, moć udjeljivanja blagoslova istospolnim zajednicama”.
Overbeck je naglasio kako neće nametati nikakve suspenzije ili kanonske kazne svećenike koji će blagoslivljati istospolne parove dodavši kako su i neki drugi biskupi zauzeli takav stav, ali nije naveo njihova imena.
Među njima je zasigurno i austrijski kardinal Schönborn koji je koncem prošlog mjeseca o blagoslovu za istospolne parove kazao: “Ako zahtjev za blagoslovom nije show, tj. nije samo nekakva kulminacija izvanjskog rituala, ako je iskren te se doista radi o zahtjevu za Božjim blagoslovom životnog puta kojim, bez obzira na situaciju, dvoje ljudi pokušava hodati, neće im biti odbijen taj blagoslov”.
Schönborn je izrazio i otvorenu zabrinutost zbog dokumenta najvišeg vatikanskog tijela za doktrinarna pitanja kazavši kao je “jedina poruka koja se proširila medijima diljem svijeta bila je ‘ne’ blagoslovu”. “To je povrijedilo mnoge ljude”, kazao je austrijski kardinal.
S druge strane, pojedini njemački biskupi su pozdravili dokument iz Vatikana te potvrdili kako neće blagoslivljati bilo kakve oblike istospolnih zajednica. Među njima su nadbiskup Kölna, kardinal Rainer Maria Woelki, biskup Freiburga Stephan Burger, biskup Erfurta Ulrich Neymeyer, biskup Eichstätta Gregor Maria Hanke, biskup Görlitza Wolfgang Ipolt, biskup Passaua Stefan Oster te biskup Regensburga Rudolf Voderholzer.

Svjestan, Milosrdni Spasitelju, svoje ništavnosti i Tvoje Uzvišenosti, bacam se pred Tvoje Noge i zahvaljujem Ti za mnoge dokaze Tvoje milosti koje si mi iskazao, Tvojem nezahvalnom stvoru. Zahvaljujem Ti posebno za izbavljenje, po Tvojoj Predragocjenoj Krvi, od razornih sotonskih sila.
U prisutnosti moje drage Majke Marije, moga Anđela Čuvara, moga Sveca zaštitnika i cijeloga Neba, dobrovoljno se posvećujem iskrena srca, o dragi Isuse, Tvojoj Predragocjenoj Krvi, po kojoj si otkupio svijet od grijeha, smrti i pakla.
Ja Ti obećajem, da ću uz pomoć Tvoje milosti i s mojom najvećom snagom, podupirati pobožnost prema Tvojoj Predragocjenoj Krvi, Cijeni našega otkupljenja, tako da svi mognemo štovati, slaviti i klanjati se Tvojoj Krvi.
Na ovaj način želim dati zadovoljštinu za moju nevjeru prema Tvojoj Predragocjenoj Krvi ljubavi i pružiti Tebi zadovoljštinu za mnoga oskvrnuća koja su ljudi počinili protiv te Predragocjene Cijene njihova spasenja.
O da bi mogli moji grijesi, moja hladnoća i sva djela moga nepoštivanja učinjena prema Tebi, o Sveta, Predragocjena Krvi, biti uništena. Evo, o dragi Isuse, Tebi prikazujem ljubav, štovanje i klanjanje, koje su, Tvoja Presveta Majka, Tvoji vjerni Učenici i svi Sveci iskazali Tvojoj Predragocjenoj Krvi. Molim Te, da zaboraviš moju raniju nevjernost i hladnoću i da oprostiš svima koji Te vrijeđaju. Poškropi me, o Božanski Spasitelju, i sve ljude Svojom Predragocjenom Krvlju, tako da mi, o Raspeta Ljubavi, odsada i nadalje uzmognemo ljubiti Tebe svim našim srcima i dostojno častiti Cijenu našega spasenja. Amen.
U tvoju se obranu utječemo, Sveta Bogorodice. Ne odbij nam molbe u potrebama našim, nego nas od svih pogibelji izbavi uvijek Slavna i Blagoslovljena Djevice. Amen.

To je demonski govor iz samih paklenih dubina!
UPRAVO SUPROTNO – DIJETE TREBA ✝️KRSTITI ČIM PRIJE JE MOGUĆE!
Naravno da đavlu i slugama đavolskim smeta krštenje djeteta jer tada ono ima zaštitu i demonske sile ne mogu ga lako uzmeniravati i opsjedati.
Evo skraćenog sjedočanstva moje pokojne bake (drugo mi ne treba), koje mi je više puta ispričala, očito da mi se ureže u pamćenje :
Baka mi je pričala priču iz svog života o tome kako je ruka zloga cijelu noć ljuljala koljevku djeteta i dijete je non stop plakalo te ispuštalo snažne krikove.
Pitala je djetetovu majku je li ono kršteno? Majka je odgovorila da nije jer oni ‘ne idu u crkvu’.
Na kraju ga je potajno odnijela na krštenje jer je otac bio partizan i komunist, i tko zna kakva zla je sve radio.
I nakon krštenja, ljuljanja i krici su odmah prestali.
Eto, jel vam treba što drugo?
Budite oprezni, mudri i u zdravom nauku ostanite.
Imajte na umu da danas ovako razmišljaju đavao (lažov i ubojica ljudi) i đavolski podanici:
“Idemo tako urediti stvari u društvu da se dijete uopće ne začne.
Ako se pak začne, imamo drugu priliku – ubijmo ga u majčinu krilu.
Ako se i rodi, imamo još treću priliku: ne dopustimo da se krsti i primi ostale Sv. Sakramente!
Ako i primi Krštenje i Sv. Sakramente, imamo još šanse: okružimo ga nemoralnim društvom, potaknimo ga na svjetovnost i tjelesnost putem ‘životnih postignuća’, medija, glazbe, slika, filmova, psovki.
Imamo priliku do kraja života udaljiti ga od Sv. Crkve i opet je naš!”
Zaista, zamke su na svakom koraku i nema mira nikada.
Ta đavao je već mutio kako da ne dođe do Bezgrešna Začeća, pa do Blagovijesti, pa do Rođenja i Prikazanja i Krštenja našeg Gospodina, koji je sam Bog, a gdje neće uspijevati kod nas običnih grešnika.
Svaki dan je dan duhovne borbe, za svoju dušu ponajprije, pa onda za ostale oko nas i duše u Čistilištu.
Presveta Bogorodice Marijo, Sveti Josipe i Sveti Arkanđele Mihaele, molite za nas, čuvajte nas i naše (ne)rođene u strašnom boju protiv sila mraka i pakla, koje u sve većem broju kruže oko nas + Amen. Aleluja! 🙏✝️😇💙

The red lamp burning in Catholic Churches signifies that God is really present before them in the Most Blessed Eucharist – Pope Pius XII is here prophesying that the Most Blessed Sacrament will no longer be able to be found in the ‘Catholic’ churches, a reality which took place shortly after his death as a result of Vatican Council II.

In the early 17th century, a Conceptionist nun in Ecuador, Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres (1563–1635), was the recipient of various apparitions from the Mother of God, including many prophecies concerning the 20th century the only approved apparition of Our Lady that gives actual time periods of upcoming events- which indeed did come to pass. The fact that these prophecies date back 400 years makes them especially noteworthy. Mother Mariana’s incorrupt body was discovered in 1906 and can still be seen today.
“Thus I make it known to you that from the end of the 19th century and shortly after the middle of the 20th century… It will be difficult to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, and also that of Confirmation… The Catholic spirit will rapidly decay; the precious light of the Faith will gradually be extinguished…”
“Various heresies will be propagated in this land, then a free Republic. As these heresies spread and dominate, the precious light of Faith will be extinguished in souls by the almost total corruption of customs [morals]… The small number of souls who, hidden, will preserve the treasure of the Faith and the virtues will suffer an unspeakably cruel and slow martyrdom…”

“How the Church will suffer on that occasion – the dark night of the lack of a Prelate and Father (Bishop of Rome/the Pope) to watch over them… The lukewarmness of all the souls consecrated to God in the priestly and religious state will delay the coming of this Prelate and Father.”
One of the most striking of the prophetic visions occurred on the Feast of the Purification, February 2, 1634, the 40th anniversary of the first appearance of Our Lady of Good Success to Mother Mariana. Mother Mariana was praying in the upper choir loft before the Blessed Sacrament, the Sanctuary lamp went out. Mother Mariana was left in complete darkness. The extinguishing of the Sanctuary Light signified the dire straits the Church would be in during this future epoch.
Our Lady of Good Success was quite clear on what would be the demise of the Catholic Church, the general theme, a lax and perverse clergy. Certain members of the Catholic clergy would become as thieves stealing that Tabernacle light…thieves that would steal what is rightfully ours by virtue of our baptism in the Catholic Church—our Faith. They would rob us of Doctrine, Dogma and Tradition — ransacking the Church as it were leaving us in total darkness without even as much as the light of the Sanctuary Lamp (which signifies the presence of the Holy Eucharist, Jesus Christ, Himself.)

Carmel wearing the brown habit of the Carmelites and holding the Brown Scapular.

Saint Elphege, Archbishop and Martyr
Saint Elphege was born in the year 954, of a noble Saxon family. He first became a monk in the monastery of Deerhurst, near Tewkesbury, England, and afterwards lived as a hermit near Bath, where he founded a community under the rule of St. Benedict, and became its first abbot. At thirty years of age he was chosen Bishop of Winchester, and twenty-two years later he became Archbishop of Canterbury. In 1011, when the Danes landed in Kent and took the city of Canterbury, putting all to fire and sword, St. Elphege was captured and carried off in the expectation of a large ransom. He was unwilling that his ruined church and people should be put to such expense, and was kept in a loathsome prison at Greenwich for seven months. While so confined some friends came and urged him to lay a tax upon his tenants to raise the sum demanded for his ransom. “What reward can I hope for,” said he, “if I spend upon myself what belongs to the poor? Better give up to the poor what is ours, than take from them the little which is their own.” As he still refused to give ransom, the enraged Danes fell upon him in a fury, beat him with the blunt sides of their weapons, and bruised him with stones until one, whom the Saint had baptized shortly before, put an end to his sufferings by the blow of an axe. He died on Easter Saturday, April 19, 1012, his last words being a prayer for his murderers. His body was first buried in St. Paul’s, London, but was afterwards translated to Canterbury by King Canute. A church dedicated to St. Elphege still stands upon the place of his martyrdom at Greenwich.
Reflection — Those who are in high positions should consider themselves as stewards rather than masters of the wealth or power intrusted to them for the benefit of the poor and weak. St. Elphege died rather than extort his ransom from the poor tenants of the Church lands.

The Gospel Reading for Thursday of the Fourth Week of Easter
John 13:16-20 ~ Jesus Speaks of Humility and Betrayal at the Last Supper

I know of whom I chose out (have chosen). But that the Scripture might be fulfilled, ‘The (one) eating the bread with Me lifted up his heel against me.’ 19 From this time, I tell you before it happens that when it happens you may believe that I AM. 20 “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever received [lambano] the one I send, receives [lambanei ] me, and whoever receives [lambano] me, receives [lambanei] the (One) who sent me.”

This event took place on the first night of the Feast of Unleavened Bread when the faithful ate the sacred meal of the Passover victim. Jesus’ guests came at His invitation to assemble in the upper room of a house in Jerusalem. In John 13:4, Jesus removed His “outer garment,” which was probably His outer cloak with the tassels (Mk 6:56; Num 15:37). Under it, He was wearing the seamless linen garment of a priest (Jn 19:23-24). Since a priest only wore priestly clothing when he served in a worship service, Jesus’ seamless garment is a sign that this meal is a liturgical event (Ez 42:14).
Jesus then proceeded to wash the disciples’ (Apostles’) feet; He even washed Judas Iscariot’s feet. In preparation for service in the Temple, a priest always sanctified his hands and feet by washing them in the laver in the Court of the Priests (Ex 30:17-21; Mishnah: Tamid, 1:4H; Mishnah: Kelim, 1:9D). It was a ritual of purification that was a sign of the priest’s inner purity as a condition of offering service at God’s altar and before entering the Holy Place. In the sacrifice of the Mass, before the priest repeats the words of consecration over the offerings of bread and wine, he also ritually washes his hands and prays for his sanctification.
In the ritual of the Passover meal, there were three hand-washings, but that night Jesus included the washing of feet, which also points to the liturgical nature of the Last Supper. After performing this symbolic act of ritual purification, Jesus put on His outer garment and took His place at the table. He then explained His actions in the ritual of washing the Apostles’ feet as a sign of humility in service that Jesus expected them to follow. He wanted His disciples to understand if He could humbly wash their feet, then they could not refuse to serve with humility those to whom He was commissioning them to carry the Gospel of salvation.
Jesus’ teaching by example in the foot-washing ritual is probably also associated with a dispute that arose in Luke 22:24-30 when the Apostles argued which of them was the greatest. In that teaching, Jesus said: “the greatest among you must behave as if he were the youngest, the leader as if he were the one who serves. For who is the greater: the one at table or the one who serves? The one at table, surely? Yet here am I among you as one who serves!” In our passage, Jesus then tells the Apostles in verse 17: “If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”
Jesus expands on His teaching, using another double “amen” in verse 20, as He always does when clarifying His teaching or making a definitive statement. He tells them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, a slave [dulous] is not greater than his lord [kyrios], nor a messenger greater than the (one) sending him.” Jesus is their lord/master, and they are His servant messengers.
Then He told them in verse 18 that He knows those He has chosen as His messengers. Jesus knows those who are true disciples, and He knows the false one. He tells them what will happen is so “Scripture might be fulfilled,” as He quoted from Psalm 41:10, saying, “The (one) eating the bread with Me lifted up his heel against me.” When Jesus’ betrayal takes place, they will know the prophecy in Sacred Scripture that Judas fulfilled. Jesus quoted from the Hebrew text of Psalm 41:10 (verse 9 in some translations) that reads: “He that eats my bread lifted up his heel against me.” To “lift one’s heel” against someone is a Semitic expression of violence and betrayal. The lament in Psalm 41:7-13 is attributed to Jesus’ ancestor David, who cried out to Yahweh that “even my trusted friend on whom I relied,” who ate bread at his table, has betrayed him. To eat bread at the table of one’s lord was to give a pledge of loyalty (see 2 Sam 9:7, 14; 1 Kng 18:19, 2 Kng 25:29). To betray the one with whom one ate a meal was one of the vilest breaches of the traditions of hospitality. Jesus is, of course, referring to the Apostle Judas Iscariot.
In verses 19, Jesus says, “From this time, I tell you before it happens that when it happens, you may believe that I AM.” Jesus’ announcement is the fourth “I AM” statement without a predicate nominative that He makes in John’s Gospel (Jn 8:24, 28, 58; 13:19). There are also seven “I AM” statements with a predicate nominative (Jn 6:35; 8:12; 10:7, 11; 11:25; 14:6; 15:1). His statement repeats the “I AM” statements in John 8:24 (“believe that I AM”), 8:28 (“know that I AM”), 8:58 (“before Abraham was I AM”), and 13:19 (“believe that I AM). This statement is, of course, like the others, an expression of the divine name Yahweh, “I am who I am,” from Exodus 3:14 and a declaration of Jesus’ divinity.
Jesus says He tells them this so when the betrayal takes place, they “may believe.” They will believe in His divinity because this revelation will demonstrate Jesus’ superhuman knowledge and fulfill the prophecy of Psalm 41:10. St. Peter will refer to this same verse again in Acts 1:16 when he announces to the assembled faithful that Judas’ betrayal fulfilled the passage from Psalm 41:10. It is similar to the Semitic expression of betrayal and violence that Yahweh used when He cursed the Serpent in Genesis 3:15. God said, “I shall put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring [seed] and hers [her seed]; he will strike at [crush] your head while you strike at his heel” (NAB).
God proclaimed, from the moment of the Fall of humanity, that the offspring of the Serpent/Satan (those who reject God’s authority) are at enmity with “the Woman’s” offspring (those who are obedient to God and the Son of God). Only two women in Salvation History carried the title “Woman”—Eve (Gen 2:23) and the new Eve, Mary the Mother of Jesus the Christ (Jn 2:4; 19:26; Rev 12:17). The final battle will be between Satan and Christ. Even though Satan has raised his “heel” and betrayed Jesus through Judas and others, it is Jesus, the “seed of the Woman” Mary of Nazareth, who will ultimately crush the head of the Serpent!
In verse 20, Jesus uses another double, solemn “amen” that He uses when making an emphatic statement or explaining His teaching more fully. Then, He uses a four-times repetition of the Greek verb “lambano,” saying, “Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever received [lambano] the one I send, receives [lambanei ] me, and whoever receives [lambano] me, receives [lambanei] the one who sent me.” The number four in Sacred Scripture is the symbolic number of creation and the world. The Greek word “lambano” can mean “receives” or “welcomes,” but to “receive” Christ more accurately conveys the meaning of the text. This action of “receiving” the Christ must be more than a superficial acknowledgment, as in a hospitable “welcome.” To truly “receive” Him, the believer’s response must be to embrace all that Christ is and all that He taught.
What Jesus says in verse 20 is a message for all professed believers down through the centuries. Jesus emphasizes the condition He places on us in our reception of His emissaries, those carrying His authority and the power of His words and works. In other words, we must willingly and obediently “receive” those He placed in authority over us who have the responsibility to carry the Gospel of the Living Word to the world. These emissaries, “apostaloi” in Greek, are the Apostles and their successors, the Bishops of the Universal/Catholic Church. If we obediently accept His emissaries, Jesus assures us that we will in effect receive God the Son and God the Father through the teachings His emissaries carry to us on His behalf.
In verse 20, Jesus assured the Apostles that if they remain faithful to all He has taught them, then they have His promise that they are one with Him. And, although He has reminded them that their dignity is not superior to His (Jn 13:16), He does assure them that their status is very great. The man or woman who receives the emissaries sent by Christ (Jn 13:20) in effect receives Him (Mt 10:40), similar to a king sending his ambassador. The emissary or ambassador represents the king in every way—in his authority and in the very words he speaks. The Apostles, whose title means “those who are sent,” represent the King of kings. In a like manner, whoever receives Christ through His emissaries, also receives God the Father. Jesus is Himself the Great Ambassador in respect of His relationship to God the Father and the relationship of His disciples to Him. In every generation, Jesus’ disciples are His ambassadors to the world!
